Well, thats your master personal opinion and there is no right and wrong answers in renouncing for the short term abeit for 2-4 weeks.Originally posted by An Eternal Now:Yes. There are of course, still some people who really cannot take it.
But my master's point is don't enter with the expectation that you will go out sometime.
Fully renounce before you enter the sangha.
Becoming a monk is to walk the path of the deathlessness. Besides accruing a great deal of merit, that is not the point. The point is to obtain liberation from the samsara, either as arahant or bodhisattva. Bodhisattva will still remain in this saha world practising the paramitas and learning until he is ready to be a buddha to save all sentient beings.Originally posted by Bryan^:there r alot of reasons why pple wan to become monk...some wanna become monk for the sake of becoming monk nt sincerely which is wasting time...like i heard a long phor scolding somebody...why u wan to become monk, and he cant ans the quest, the long phor said did u learnt anything? tt person went uhhhhhhh, the long phor scolded him for wasting time...tt person actually was a monk before n wanted to be one again...

Second time was my mom was going to serve the another batch and have a break in thailand so i thought since my mom is going, why nt i be monk to give her blessing directly instead...so i went again n become monk... the chief monk pull me around the temple introducing me to the other senior monks.
One day one of the senior monk ask me to sit in the front row during evening prayer and without warning he pushed the mic infront of me to let me chant the evening prayers, i reject the offer but he insisted...wah lau the whole temple can hear my voice but after a while i dunno how to read i pass back, so embarrassing...But i felt good cos i juz become a monk n not many pple got the chance to lead the prayer

Not until they discovered the dhamma. There is a path, that will lead to the end of existences or sufferings.Originally posted by grandeur:How many people in this world can resist temptation? How many people feel they have enjoy and see through the world illusion?
